The three Mounting options now available to suit all needs

from left to right-

Q/R Type Fitting: well proven with over 25 years in use, can be used with any Defiant Indicator when fitted with a Stem fitting, as shown with a Merlin Indicator Chord fitted. You have 360 degree's of  instant rotational adjustment and instant release by pressing the Blue release Collar.

Socket Screw Locking: you just align the Indicator (HG Banshee Chord in the example) in the axis you want it and lock the Socket Screw via an Allan Key, it's that simple. The advantage of this type of mounting is that it's 100% ridged, which is required for Rail and  Warlock Indicators. But it's main reason for it's concept was with older vintage Alarms being the size of bricks in some cases, this restricts the space available for Indicator fitment.

Thumb Screw Locking: works identically to the Socket Screw except with being a Thumb Screw no Allan Key is required, compatible with nearly all modern compact Alarm designs.

Defiant MPS Indicator Range

I've been making a large range of purpose made Indicators for a long time, all renowned for actually doing the job they were designed to do, in a highly efficient way. There's no gimmicky crap, no cheap materials used, all are built to last - and last they do!  I know and even fish with customers still using Defiant Indicators that are over 25 years old on a weekly basis!

July 2024 the decision was made to start phasing in a new  Indicator mounting design based on the well proven Rail Indicator mounting in two versions, as well as the third well proven Quick Release Option.

All Defiant Indicators are now standardised at both ends, making the whole range totally interchangeable so you can pick the best option for your requirements  on the day.

Mag Heads all fit via a standard British 2BA thread, there's a huge Mag Head range of options of Mag Heads to choose from in both colours and sizes.  There is a £2.50 surcharge if you want MKI or MKII "Glow Mags" to be fitted, this is obviously a trivial expense compared to fitting an Isotope.

        The Hawk Hanger, example shown is fitted with a

                      Yellow 38 x 15mm MKII Mag Head

The Hawk Hanger

The Hawk Hanger is a basic chain type Hanger that I've been making for near on 20 years now and in that time not one has ever snapped, corroded or been returned with a fault. The reason why is simple, as with all MPS Indicators only the very best materials are ever used. The Stainless Steel Chain used in the Hawk's is the very best money can buy, it's of a welded Link construction, it's impossible to snap it even thou it's still has a narrow gauge

There is no set length - they can be made any length up to 8" long (Raw Chain length) for no extra cost

Hawks can be fitted with any Mag Head in the range you wish

* Very powerful woven 316 Stainless Steel Chord

* Highly wind resistant eliminating false bleeps

* Can be fitted with any option in the Mag Head range that's capable of coping with the powerful tension of the HG Banshee's Chord

HG Banshee Hanger

Based the original Banshee this can only be described as a brutal no mercy form of Indicator!  It's also the most effective that I've ever used especially at range or on waters that have those small clumps of weed scattered here and there between you and your rig.  These clumps of weed play havoc with indication having the effect of your line laying all over the place acting like a brake preventing any movement being shown. The HG (Heavy Gauge) Banshee's eliminate any slack line and if you set your Rod Tips as low as possible even underwater, they are strong enough to pin your line close to the lake bed (dependant on the lakes topography obviously)

If I was only allowed to use one of my own Indicators,  the HG Banshee would be it, they are just so utterly efficient at putting fish on the bank.

Banshee Hanger

It got its name way back in autumn 2003 on the very first time on the bank, it was a very stormy night with the wind howling like a "Banshee", tree's making cracking noises as they swayed almost to breaking point in the powerful gale. It was instantly noted that my Alarms were not making any "False Bleeps" even thou they were swaying about and waves hitting the lines were they entered the water. The other four on the bank were using in vogue at the time Indicators with Sink Ball Chains or the equally useless Dacron chorded ones, and their Alarms were singing their little heads off in the severe weather conditions!

The design has hardly changed from that autumn night all those years ago, I'd cracked it first time - by using a woven 316 Stainless Steel chord which when formed into a "U" shape  becomes semi-ridged and in turn windproof, not just that the cord is unbreakable with a 560kg breaking strain!

The Merlin Indicator

The Merlin Indicator neatly fills that niche between the Banshee and the Scorpion Indicators, having only a slightly more powerful Stainless Steel Flexi-Chord than the standard Banshee.

The Scorpion Hanger

The Scorpion Hanger, was the very first Indicator I invented back in the late 1990's,was (and still is) so effective once Martin Locke at Solar Tackle saw and example at a meeting a deal was struck and Solar made a version (It was called The Adjustable Quiver Lock)

Still just as efficient at putting fish on the bank as way back then, can be used as a basic Hanger or as a "Springer" when a solid Carbon tension rod is inserted into the hollow internal chamber of the Stainless Steel Flexi Chord.

~ Supplied with a medium strength solid Carbon tension Rod, many other options in diameter/strength are readily available from the likes of eBay, for reference 0.8mm is fitted as standard.

* Stainless Steel Flexible Chord

* Highly wind resistant design, eradicating false bleeps

* Can be used as a Hanger or Springer

* Can be fitted with any option in the Mag Head range that's capable of coping with the powerful tension of the HG Banshee's Chord

       Shown fitted with a Fluro Green 38 x 1/2" MKII Mag Head

          Rotary Warlock shown fitted with a MKII Glow Mag

*  The Warlock is fitted with a solid Carbon Fibre arm fitted with a sliding weight, the Rotary Warlock is fitted with a solid Titanium precision shaped arm.

* Self-alignment built-in

* Highly wind resistant design

* Can be fitted with any option in the Mag Head range, small surcharge if  a Glow Mag is fitted

* Both Warlock versions are excellent for Slacklining, with both becoming totally weightless when set in the lowest position

   The Warlock & Rotary Warlock
The Warlock was one of the very first Indicators made by Defiant MPS and was a firm favourite with Perch, Tench, Roach, Bream and Carp Anglers.  The purpose made frictionless pivoting mechanism made it inevitable that a up-to-date version of the old Warlock  had to be designed and made. Very similar to the original one with a 8" long solid Carbon arm (Inc. the Mag Head)  complete with a sliding 16 gram Stainless Steel Weight allowing instant tension adjustment.

What's so special about the Rotary Warlock version ? Bit of a basic physics lesson will explain - All Alarms be it Roller or Vibration Sensing work on the same basic principle "The transfer and detection of any motion of the fishing line "  It's that simple, and easily achieved in dry conditions when maximum friction between the line, but in wet or frosty weather conditions that's another matter, just like your vehicles tyres lose grip through lack of grip (Friction) so does an Alarm, especially when an Indicator is positioned in such a way that the Line only makes contact with a fraction of the Roller/sensors surface area.

The formed shape of the Rotary Warlock's Arm is designed to drive the line towards the front of the Alarm,  forcing the line to make maximum possible contact with the Alarms Roller/Sensor from what is a lightweight arm.  This is achieved by the design using highly advanced parts and materials - the rigid arm is crafted from solid Titanium, which pivots on a precision spherical Chromium Ball Joint providing precision movement on a par with a swiss watch allowing for self-alignment in the vertical axis, these are very expensive parts normally used extensively in top of the range Drones etc.. but they are also the very best available.

            The Rail Indicator, a pure joy to see in motion!

                   A set of three Rails fitted with Purple Bobbins

              The Rail Indicator

Decades ago I promised that one day I'd take the Monkey Climber concept - totally re-design it, iron out the many flaws, hence "The Rail Indicator" was developed.

Was the first indicator to utilise a Thumb Screw locking mounting, which proved so effective it was soon rolled out as the standard fitment for all Defiant MPS Indicators.

The Rail is so simple a design- forward take and the Bobbin goes up the solid Titanium "Rail", a drop back and it drops!  There's not much else to it, for Slack Lining you just position the Bobbin at the lowest point on the titanium Rail, when set in this position the Bobbin becomes weightless.

*Solid Titanium Rail

*The Retro look in a modern design

*Red, Purple, Pink, Amber, White, Black, Blue, Fluro Green, Emerald Green, Orange, Yellow, or Crystal Rail Bobbins

*Rigid, robust design that can never wobble like the old Monkey Climber Needles did

*It could not be any simpler to set or use, I've up-loaded a short video to YouTube https://youtu.be/pkM8DNwZ9XI  that says it all in just a few seconds.

                       The Rail's special  Bobbin assembly

 Up-graded for 2024 with dry Linear Bearings fitted, as you can see in the short video - the Bobbin moves up and down the Rail like it's on Ice as there's zero friction with being bearing mounted

 The Bobbin can actually be removed from the Rail by simply removing the Knurled Thumb Nut from the base of the solid Titanium Rail. The line clip that's built into the Bobbin is the standard x3 strength Mag Head type line clip. There is also a Isotope chamber that takes a 15 x 3mm Isotope, but not in the normal vertical axis - it fits in a Horizontal axis which makes it  much more visible with the Bobbin being in an angled position.
