Defiant River Pod

For well over a year I've been being asked many, many times "Could you please make a River Pod again?" I'd reply that if I was going to make one it would have to be something special made from the very best materials possible, and to a strict criteria to make it worthwhile, were do you start  - well setting off on a Fishing trip!
Transportation: I've fished the River's Ribble and Darwen for over 50 years, being as mobile as possible carrying as little weight as possible is a top priority, with this in mind I designed it to be as lightweight as possible, but still retaining strength. By building it mainly from Titanium this was achieved with the Chassis weighing just 914 grams, and closes up to just 22" long (The Photo to the left shows just how compact) All the outer shafts are Titanium Tube, all the Inner shafts are solid Titanium Bar, with only the fittings being made from Stainless Steel.
Fast & Easy to set up:  an absolutely critical design feature if your roving a river, the last thing you want to be doing is constantly playing around setting something up every time you move swims -
 Splay out the two front Legs to any angle you wish, with each Leg having 360 degree of  independently rotation, they can be set to compensate for any shape of Banking, lock via the Knurled Thumb Wheel. 
Now fit the main Spine shaft that simply screws in and locks into the rear of the Main fitting, if you need to adjust the height or angle, all three shafts are length adjustable via Thumb Screws. 
Now drop in and lock the Buzz Bar via the large Thumb Screw, again another unique design feature the Buzz Bar has 360 degree's of  rotational adjustment in the vertical and horizontal axis, so regardless of how the main Chassis has been set your guaranteed to be able to set the Buzz Bar exactly level.  
The Defiant River Pod comes complete with a Top Buzz Bar included, it's fitted with a anti-twist fitting that eliminates the dreaded self undoing of Buzz Bars when you get a "3ft Twitch" on the right hand Rod. This fitting can be removed, when removed the Buzz Bar is just like any normal 2 Rod Buzz Bar.  
The example shown I built for my own personal use, and has a 8" wide Buzz Bar  as I mainly use vintage Abu Suveran S4000M Reels or K Dowling Centre Pins, so I don't need wide Bars, but for those who need a little wider Buzz Bar's it's no problem.  I personally don't use a Buzz Bar at the base, but for those who do I have designed a slid on version for the River Pod as an optional extra

Tip: if you want the Top Buzz Bar set at a more vertical angle, just remove the fitting from under the Buzz Bar (It has a Tommy Bar Hole to allow you to unscrew/tighten) Then fit any 1/2" diameter Bank Stick to the standard 3/8" BSF thread, the Bank Stick locks in position exactly the same way the fitting did. The longer the Bank Stick you fit the steeper the angle back towards you will be.
